Sister Boniface Mysteries __LINK__

Meet the quirky title character of Sister Boniface Mysteries, played by actress and comedian Lorna Watson. The amusing new series, which debuts on BritBox February 8 with 10 episodes, follows the spirited sister as she helps the police catch killers in the appropriately named community of Great Slaughter, a small town with a large body count.

Sister Boniface Mysteries

Both series are playful midcentury mysteries, but Trotter describes Sister Boniface as a procedural, unlike its predecessor. While Father Brown has a knack for getting suspects to confess their sins, Sister Boniface is the police scientific adviser, a woman with a brilliant mind and a Ph.D. in forensic science. The lab where she makes wine and tests evidence has beakers of bubbling liquid as well as a cross on the wall.

Sister Boniface is back in the habit, returning as the Great Slaughter Constabulary's crime-solving secret weapon. Countryside criminals should start saying their Hail Marys, as Boniface's faith in forensics is only rivaled by her passion for investigation. This season, the sister will force a murderer into checkmate at a chess tournament, take a spin through a pirate radio station, and defend her reputation as the conviction of her greatest adversary," The Pear Tree Poisoner," comes into question.

UKTV today announces that Drama will exclusively broadcast Sister Boniface Mysteries (10x60'). Lorna Watson (Watson & Oliver), Max Brown (Downton Abbey), Jerry Iwu (Halal Daddy), Miranda Raison (MI-5), and Ami Metcalf (Allied) are set to star as the leads of the light-hearted murder mysteries series.

Created by G.K. Chesterton in a series of stories that were first published in 1910, Father Brown is an enduring figure who has served as the inspiration for at least four feature films and multiple television shows. In his most recent incarnation, set in post-war Britain in the 1950s, Father Brown is a bicycle-riding fellow who loves treats yet loves solving mysteries even more, never hesitating to poke his nose into police business, to the consternation of local law enforcement. He also has a strong streak of righteousness and never hesitates to brow-beat or guilt-trip suspects into confessing their crimes.

It's a cheerful group of people who surround Sister Boniface. What marks the series as a welcome addition to the world of lighthearted mysteries are the clever variations from what works quite well in the Father Brown series. Thus, Sister Boniface is her own person with her own identity, following her own crime-solving instincts, and deftly helping the men around her to draw the correct conclusions. 041b061a72
