The Bad Batch Season 2 was first announced on August 5, 2021 on StarWars.com, with a 2022 release date.[1] On January 25, 2022,[7] issue 208 of Star Wars Insider stated that it would release in Spring 2022.[8] The next issue, however, removed the season and stated only the year.[9] At Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, a panel was held for the show on May 29, 2022,[10] after which a trailer was released which stated that the season would be released in the fall.[11] Disney+ later stated a September 28 release date,[12] though the series was not included when the listings for September 2022 were released.[13] The season was given a January 4, 2023 release date at D23 that month. It was also announced that the season will have 16 episodes and feature a two-episode premiere, midseason, and finale. [3]

While Crosshair certainly had more of a consistent presence throughout the first season of The Bad Batch -- acting as the crew's primary antagonist -- the sparing implementation of him throughout this second season has paid off spectacularly. By giving him the full spotlight in these few episodes, the creative team has been able to sculpt an enrapturing arc for him that has built upon the bones of his character in fascinating and complex ways.

Showrunner Jennifer Corbett writes the script for this episode, making it feel even more like a culmination of the entire series. "The Outpost" cuts straight to the bone of Crosshair as a character and taps directly into the themes that have driven The Bad Batch from the start. In presenting the ultimate challenge to Crosshair's "good soldiers follow orders" mentality, "The Outpost" mines new depths on every front.

There's a scene around the middle of the episode that is a startling crystallization of all of this. It features Crosshair having accidentally stepped on a land mine and fellow clone Mayday having to disarm it. From Corbett's writing ingeniously tightening the screws of tension throughout the scene to Villanueva and Rau's understated direction, which beautifully sells the festering unease of the sequence, to Kevin Kiner's pulse-quickening dirty swirling synth score, it's a moment of pure craftsmanship on every level.

"The Outpost" is tremendous. It offers audiences a glimpse into the trials and tribulations of this specific period of the larger Star Wars story in meaningful ways through the lens of this character. With only a handful of episodes left this season and numerous story threads all moving in a compelling and surprising fashion, The Bad Batch just keeps getting better.

The first season of Star Wars: The Bad Batch premiered on May 4, 2021, and ran for 16 episodes until August 13. It received positive reviews from critics. A second season, also consisting of 16 episodes, premiered on January 4, 2023 and concluded on March 29.

By September 2016, Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels supervising director Dave Filoni had stepped back from that position on the latter series so he could focus more on the series' writing as well as the development of future animated series for Lucasfilm.[48] In July 2018, Filoni announced that a final season of The Clone Wars would be released on the streaming service Disney+ in 2020.[49] The season includes a four episode arc introducing a squad of clone troopers with genetic mutations known as the Bad Batch; the episodes previously existed as story reels for an earlier, unfinished season of the series, and came directly from the plans of Star Wars creator George Lucas.[3]

Kiner's score for the first season was released digitally by Walt Disney Records in two volumes: music from the first eight episodes was released on June 25, 2021, and music from the last eight episodes was released on August 20. A track from the first season, titled "Enter the Bad Batch", was released digitally as a single on May 13.[55]

A third volume, featuring music from the first eight episodes of the second season of The Bad Batch, was released digitally on February 17, 2023. A fourth volume, featuring additional selections of music from the second season, is also expected to be released in the following weeks.[56]

Star Wars: The Bad Batch premiered on Disney+ on May 4, 2021, Star Wars Day,[58] with a special 70-minute episode.[4] The second episode was released on May 7, and subsequent episodes were released weekly for a total of 16 episodes.[4][6] The second season premiered on January 4, 2023, with two episodes,[59] followed by weekly releases for the rest of the 16-episode season, with the seventh and eighth episodes releasing together on February 8, and the fifteenth and sixteenth episodes releasing together on March 29, 2023, concluding the season.[9] The second season was previously expected to premiere on September 28, 2022.[60]

The review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes reported an 86% approval rating with an average rating of 7.3/10, based on 92 reviews for the first season. The website's critics consensus reads, "The Bad Batch's beautifully animated adventure may be too lore heavy for casual viewers, but fans will enjoy diving deeper into this dastardly cast of characters."[76] Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned a score of 67 out of 100 based on 9 critics, indicating "generally favorable reviews."[77] The second season has an approval rating of 88% with an average rating of 7/10 based on 16 reviews, the website's critic consensus states: "The second bundle of The Bad Batch retains all the same virtues and vices as the first: a slick Star Wars adventure geared toward diehard fans at the expense of more casual viewers."[78]

Vincent Schilling of Indian Country Today gave the show 8.5 out of 10 stars and stated, "I'm not a superfan of Star Wars animated series, but I am impressed with this one, a team of certifiable rejects, each with their own skillset, is a winning formula for me - excellent actually."[82] Jesse Schdeen of IGN gave the premiere episode an 8 out of 10 rating, stating that the series is "a worthy successor to The Clone Wars, so much so that it could easily be rebranded as an eighth season" and that "it uses a loose end from that show to build a brand new story about the plight of clones after the war's end, and it's one that immediately resonates". He also added that the show "captures a lot of what made The Clone Wars so great (including the slick animation style and the vocal talents of Baker), but it doesn't entirely escape that show's flaws, either".[83] Julian Lytle of idobi.com gave the show 8 out of 10 stars and stated, "The Bad Batch feels familiar but also starts a new journey with new characters in a cool setting. I can't wait to see what happens with this group in the Empire."[84] Marty Brown of Common Sense Media gave the show 4 out of 5 stars and a '10+' age rating, stating, "This series delivers on precisely what fans would expect from a Star Wars story: world building, unique new characters, and big action sequences with a moral allegory at the center."[85]

Now that the Defense Recruitment Bill has passed in the Senate, the clones are officially being phased out and Crosshair finds himself on increasingly shaky ground. Bleak, but still action-packed, this episode will delight fans of season 2 episode 3 The Solitary Clone.

Crosshair remains the most interesting member of the Bad Batch, or former member at the moment. His struggles with his identities as a clone, a trooper and a member of the Bad Batch continue to bring about the best episodes of the series. While this episode was a clear diversion from episode 11, you can still see how both episodes will come to a head. Season two is doing a much better job of telling multiple stories at the same time than season one did.

Rescue on Ryloth was a surprisingly excellent episode for The Bad Batch, despite starting with the old rescue mission plot formula. Cham Syndulla and his wife have been arrested for the attempted assassination of Senator Orn Fre Taa.

The start of 2023 couldn't be better for Star Wars fans as it brings back the elite group of clone troopers and their mercenary missions with a second season. The CGI-animated TV series, Star Wars: The Bad Batch, started airing on January 4th, 2023, with two episodes released simultaneously, and now the remaining episodes will follow a one-episode-per-week schedule. Just like the first season, the second season also consists of 16 episodes, which means fans will receive non-stop entertainment for almost three months.

Earlier today, the official trailer for Star Wars: The Bad Batch season two was finally released following much speculation and anticipation. The trailer shows Clone Force 99 back in action and confirms the season is still due to start airing on January 4th, despite some unfounded rumours of a delay earlier this week.

It is incredible to consider that the new Star Wars: The Bad Batch season only recently made its debut. The second season of the animated Star Wars spinoff launched on January 4 with a bumper-sized double episode premiere, and since then it has continued to amuse fans of the franchise every Wednesday.

The 16-episode second season of the Disney Plus drama will continue to release new episodes every Wednesday, and given how the intensity of the plot is intensifying with each one, it will be interesting to watch. 041b061a72
